Signs
January 31, 2009I love this short film by Patrick Hughes. Click HERE to view. Click on the “British flag” icon to set the language to English, click on “Enter” and click on the “Signs”. It’s only a 12-minute film but you’ll enjoy every minute of it. Naka-relate ako ng konti. I know some of you will too. After all, love is a universal language. Enjoy your weekend everyone. :p
Dahil Australia Day
January 26, 2009 Lamb daw dapat ang sine-serve pag Australia Day. Pero bakit ba?! Gusto nmin mag-salmon e..Haha.. Grilled salmon with steamed veggies. Yum! Syempre, kelangan may rice (dahil hindi kami mabubusog ng wala!Hehe..) Censored and susunod na photo. Bawal sa mga menor de edad. :p
If you want to work as a nurse or midwife in Australia, this is for you.
January 23, 2009I found while I was browsing the internet. Just check the requirements and the website for more info. :p
Anyone who stops learning is old, whether at twenty or eighty. ~Henry Ford
January 17, 2009I am officially going back to school.
Got the offer letter 2 weeks ago and paid the fees (this by the way is just AUD80 for the miscellaneous and student association charges, because the actual course fee will be subsidized by the government. I just saved AUD1, 200! Yey!). My classes will be from 6pm to 10pm so I can still work and the college is just a 5 minute bus ride from my workplace. So what if I’ll be home by 11pm every Tues and Thurs? So what if I’ll be doing it for three years before I finish the course? I’m just thankful and excited that I’m finally starting to do what I’ve wanted to do for the longest time.
Now, I’m off to buy some school supplies and some groceries. Enjoy your weekend everyone. :p
On desiring things…
January 11, 2009This is one of my favorite poems. Desiderata is a latin word meaning ’ desired things’. This new year, when everyone seems to be focused on achieving their new year’s resoultion, it’s good to be reminded of the most important things in life.
********
Desiderata
Go placidly amid the noise and the haste, and remember what peace there may be in silence. As far as possible without surrender be on good terms with all persons. Speak your truth quietly and clearly; and listen to others, even to the dull and the ignorant, they too have their story. Avoid loud and aggressive persons, they are vexations to the spirit.
2009, here I come!
January 2, 2009Frankly, I don’t know how I approach this year. Last year was a really memorable one because I really thought that we would become parents that year. That would be the highlight of my 2008. So no one can really blame me for being a little bit cynical.
On the other hand, there were also so many things to be thankful for. I made a list so I’llcontinue to be hopeful this year. So here it goes:
· I started writing again thru blogging
· I am learning how to play a guitar (I know how to play 3 songs now! Hehe…)
· I am learning how to drive here (which is really challenging because I still can’t get used to the idea of driving on the right side and because the road and traffic rules here are really much more strict than in the Philippines)
Always read something that will make you look good if you die in the middle of it. ~P.J. O’Rourke
January 1, 2009If there’s one book you’ll want to read to guide you this year, this is it:

I’ve been looking for this book for over a month. I’ve checked at Borders, Dymocks, Angus & Robertson, and finally I found it at Kinokuniya when we went to the city last Friday. And since it’s the shortest, I’ve already finished it yesterday! It was one of the best books I’ve read, if not the best. I just want to read it over and over again (it’s that good), and if I could just buy all my family and friends a copy of it, I would. For more information about the book, please visit this website: www.theshackbook.com and the author’s blog: http://windrumors.com/.
So, you want to study in Oz?

The past few weeks since I lodged my permanent resident visa application, I’ve been really anxious to get a letter from the immigration department. And today, I got it!
Thank God! Akala ko aabutin ng 6-8 months (yun ang standard na sinasabi ng mga call center representatives sa immigration), buti na lang hindi. I remember when I got my spouse visa 2 years ago, I received it at this time of the year din, magpa-Pasko. What a lovely Christmas gift from papa Jesus. ![]()

On a completely different subject, heto pala handa namin from yesterday’s Christmas party with people from work:

After kumain, parang mejo nahilo ata ako. Nonetheless, it was really wonderful to just be with friends and simply celebrate Christmas (with or without lechon…pero mas masaya kung may lechon!Hehe..).
