Baby Chronicles: Letter To My Unborn Son, Gabriel

I hope you like your name. I’ve chosen that name for you before we even conceived you. Don’t ask me about your second name, it was your Dad’s idea. They say that the name bears so much meaning to what kind of person you will become. My name, I didn’t like it before. But I found out that many people has treated me like a Princess when they found out about my name (especially your Dad).
Enough about names. I want to tell you so much about how I feel right now that you’re still in my womb. How everyday I am falling in love with you. And everytime I hear a love song I think of you (not in a romantic way!). Even though I haven’t met you yet, I know I love you already. And I know your Dad does too. The other night, I heard him say when he was about to go to sleep that you and I are the love of his life. Isn’t that sweet?
I know I will never be a perfect parent. I will not be able to give you all you want. But I promise to give you enough of everything that you need. Believe me, when you grow up, you know that too much of anything is not good. There will be times when you will never understand our decisions, but I know you will someday. I promise to do everything we can to raise you with love and understanding, faith and wisdom.
Lastly, I hope you will stop kicking my lower abdomen because it hurts! But seriously, I think I can manage all the pains of pregnancy and motherhood (just like how my Mom –your ‘Lola’, managed to endure everything) just to see you healthy and strong, happy and contented. I can’t wait to see you Baby Gab. Just three more months and I’ll be able to hold you in my arms! Until then, I think I‘ll just have to endure all your kicks.

I’ve not spent a huge amount of time in the Philippines but its clear to me it’s a wonderful country.
